Prior to make any modifications test your PS2 for CD and DVD games.  Should you have any problem DO NOT make any modification to your PS2 and bring it back to the shop where you purchased it.

Right after completing the installation DO TEST the PS2 with the same CD and DVD games to ensure that the installation was executed correctly.

WARNING !

Installation of any modchip will invalidate the guarantee of your PS2.

Installation should be executed by skilled technicians only.

Preparation Steps

Identify the model of your PS2 and Download the corresponding installation diagram from

www.matrix-mod.com

Before starting the soldering procedure is very useful take in count this directions:

·        Clean all the solder points, with a soft dissolver (Solvent) by means of an old toothbrush or sponge

·        Pre-solder the wires to facilitate the soldering work:

  • Strip the solder end of the wires.

  • Melt some solder, in the tip of the iron.

  • Dip the stripped end of the wire into the Flux (Solder Paste).

  • Put the end of the wire over the tip of the iron to crate a small solder coating over the wire.

·        Pre-solder the Pads of the MX modchip:

  • Dab some flux paste to the copper pads on the motherboard using a toothpick or something thin, do not use a metal point.

  • Approach the solder core and the iron to the pad to deposit some solder over the pad.

  • Repeat for all the points as indicated in the installation diagram.

Proceed to solder the wires to the PS2 connection points as indicated in the diagram

corresponding to your PS2 version.

·        Use the razor blade by placing it between the pin on which you are working and the neighbor one.

·        With the 0.1 mm tip and the 15 W iron proceed to solder the wire to the pin.

·        The razor blade will protect the neighbor pin from bridging and splatter.

·        Don't leave the iron over the pad more that 1 or 2 seconds.

The excessive heat could damage the PS2.

Always work with the iron tip toward the blade.

Complete the soldering procedure by soldering the wires to corresponding MX  pads.

As a finishing touch, use the glue gun to fix the wires in place and avoid accidental

detaching of the solder points.

Clean again with the toothbrush (or sponge) and solvent. It will remove the excess of flux paste, and some extra solder.
